A Word from the Wine Trail by Gregg Amore of Amore Vineyards
WOW! Friends of the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail, hold on to your hats. We have FOUR major events coming up in the next three months.
First, September 12 and 13 is Harvest Weekend, often referred to as The Butcher, The Baker and the Winemaker. Member wineries team-up with local business to provide a wide array of wine and food pairings. Also this is typically the start of grape harvest for the year. There is much fun and excitement at each of the member wineries. Don’t miss it.
Our October event is Chambourcin Weekend, which takes place October 17 & 18. Chambourcin is the signature grape of the Lehigh Valley. It is grown and processed by all member wineries. This event is a great opportunity to experience Chambourcin and the subtle differences in the wine from each of our wineries. Even though it is the same grape, you will notice differences due to different growing seasons, soil variables and wine maker style. Have fun and explore.
This year, we have a second event in October. Please join us for the inaugural Lehigh Valley Cider and Wine Festival on Saturday, October 24 at Coca Cola Park in Allentown. There will be a variety of food and crafters available, and each attendee will receive a collector’s wine glass to enjoy their tasting. Don’t miss this great event.
Finally, just before the start of the holiday season, is Nouveau Weekend. Member wineries will debut first wines from this year’s harvest or new releases. They will also feature special pairings for the weekend. It is a great time to taste what is new. Visit the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail website for more detailed information on this fantastic fall line-up. Happy Trails.
