Blue Mountain wins two silver medals at 2015 PA Farm Show

The wine competition at the 2015 Farm Show set a record for participation and entries: 52 wineries submitted 341 varieties for evaluation. Wines are judged on clarity, color, aroma, taste, balance and overall quality.

“Producing wine in Pennsylvania is a challenge, said Virgil F. Cardamone, a manager at BMV, particularly when it comes to growing varietals more closely associated with arid, sunny California. Pennsylvania’s colder, wetter climate is not friendly to varietals used to make dry reds, he said.” Pennsylvania wines are more on the herbal side, such as those made in Germany and the cooler regions of Europe.

BMV won two silver medals at the Farm Show, one for our 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, and another for Mountain Spice, an apple wine made with Berks County fruit.
