Three Questions with… Mandy Tolino of Tolino Vineyards

wine trail_1820 copy1. Tolino will be participating in the PA Farm Show in Harrisburg again this year. Why do you think this annual event is so important for showcasing the quality of PA wines?

The Farm Show draws a diverse crowd. It’s not the typical wine festival crowd who may be familiar with local wineries. This allows wineries to expose their product to people who may not be familiar with the quality and diverse array of Pennsylvania wines. Also, it’s a great way for people to compare the various winemaking styles from wineries across the state all in the same location.

2. What are your predictions for the 2015 vintage based on what you saw during the growing season and harvest?

Our viticulturist, Paul Schumaker, and I expect the 2015 whites to be very good, quite drinkable from the get go with good mouth feel. Our 2015 Cabernet Franc could prove to be an excellent example of Mid-Atlantic Cabs, and very approachable early on.

3. Tolino has developed a full slate of special events each month like painting wine glasses, live music, and even fundraisers. How do you think events like these add to the experience of visiting your winery?

Hosting special events makes Tolino Vineyards a fun destination for tourists and locals. We want our guests to taste and learn about our wines, but we also hope they stay to listen to the live music, jump in on one of our weekend tours or sign up for one of the events. When people visit the winery we want them to have a great time and an authentic winery experience. There is nothing better than listening to a local musician, or painting with a local artist, next to tanks filled with wine that was grown and produced on site.
